New Surgical Suites on the Horizon at DeKalb Memorial Hospital
Long-time patients of DeKalb Memorial Hospital have witnessed sweeping changes at the hospital over the past five years. Out of the plumes of construction dust, the new face of DeKalb Memorial Hospital emerged-including a new snack bar, entryway, and gift shop; and a revamped medical records department, visitor’s lounges, lab and cardiopulmonary suite.
And more changes are on the horizon. Work has already begun on a new surgical facility that will allow the hospital to continue to provide the highest quality patient care, and the most up-to-date surgical services.
The expansion will include:
- 72,000 sq. ft.
- 30,000 sq. ft. surgical suite housed on the third floor of the hospital
The surgical suite includes:
- Five operating rooms
- Four endoscopy suites
- 23 pre- and post-surgery patient recovery rooms
Currently, surgical units are confined to an 8,000 sq. ft. area. The renovations will not only triple the space available to surgeons and patients, it will also allow for new surgical technology to be supported by the hospital.
