![]() When DeKalb Memorial was built (almost) forty years ago, the founders conducted a countywide pledge drive to acquire the necessary funds. At that time they told the donors that there would be no subsequent fundraising activities sponsored by the hospital. That pledge has been honored to this day. All of our projects have been funded without overt efforts to secure donations. The only fundraising arm utilized by DeKalb Memorial has been the DeKalb County Community Memorial Hospital Foundation, and its efforts have been modest in nature. At the beginning of the 1990s, there were 15 independent hospitals in our area of northeastern Indiana; today, only four hospitals are able to continue to claim their independence-and DeKalb Memorial Hospital is one of them. Many residents and patients throughout our community agree with our philosophy that maintaining our independence of the utmost importance. We are able to make decisions regarding health care that is strictly local in interest greatly benefiting the people living in our area. We are very appreciative of our all of our donors and donor programs. One such program is the DeKalb Memorial Hospital Building Fund. This is a special tax-deductible program in which 100% of contributions fund DeKalb Memorial Hospital's building and renovation projects. To have your name placed on the donor wall, please fill out the donor wall form. As an important symbol of our appreciation, donations earmarked to the Building Fund program are recognized on a special "donor wall" featured in a main corridor.
